communism--I'm lovin it by *balinlesavage I don't know if it's the fact that i'm listening "I'm a Bitch for You" by ImaRobot but I just love this! And ... if the slogan is what's on the subject's mind, he's lovin' it as well. Look at all the branding going on. Right there I have a suggestion for a hamburger, a drink and ice cream. Very well done photo. ( Suggested by x-horizon and Featured by cweeks )

Oh. My. Gosh.

My high school band (myself included) went to China last week, after 2 stressful years of planning. Fantastic city. I prefer Beijing over Xi'an simply because it was brimming with every level of culture on every block.

I looked all over BeiJing and found this street. It's still the same scene! Well, not the same guard, and he was busy pushing the "One Dahwrah" peddlers away from our group, but yeah, I saw this spot. I took a picture, but something tells me that Kodak disposable camera photos will not have the same quality. :D I hope I can find a picture to match yours since I took a lot of pictures there. (I love the 'pleasantville' effect when applied properly, so I might see if theres a good picture I can use for that). Though it was REALLY smoggy there the entire week, so outdoor pictures weren't the best clarity.

rice rules the world??

sometimes I eat in macdonald for convenience, and the taste is not too bad

but in our country ,emmmmm, the political and economical situation seem stable, but in fact the administors of high levels I think do monkey business and be despotic .And I have no right to comment them if I don't join Communist Party. The headmaster in my colleague forced students to do out the campus for two months (three times a day)I f I refuse ,I can not graduate! Now I have to get up at about 5:30 [link] sweep the floor, then sleepy all the day even in class!Damn awful!I want to study!!!

I love China ,the civilization, the landscape, but I long for freedom
in a bad mood so say too much *complain* *skip me *

Economic equality for all!!! Some people are more equal than others!
Kind of sad that the dream has been destroyed by the almighty dollar... and by such a lowlife company as McDonald's, too...

I love this.

I'm American, but having lived in China for 3 years...I can totally relate to this.

Communism + Capitalism = Modern Day China

There are two distinct qualities about China that I dislike- one, capitalism masquerading as communism, and two, the way little boys are idolized, and little girls are aborted.

Me too. Perhaps Wal Mart is still plotting the underhanded legal moves it needs to open a store in the middle of the Forbidden City. There is a Starbucks in there, you know.

:O Okay, now that is just... scary. Well put, my dear fellow

Which is worse: Communism or Capitalism? They all have their strong points and flaws... **that was rhetorical question, mind you ;P**

that sorta thing bugged me about China, how strongly the communist gov't was embracing capitalism, while still trying to maintain their communist foothold. what's left for a communist to do? it can't last, McDonald's will win.

the picture captures the idea better than my pictures of the playboy clothing store in GuangXi.. nice

I love both why you took and /how/ you took this picture. You caught the official in the image at just the right moment it seems -- he's got a look to him I can't really describe that does so well to paint him as a shady (nopunintended)/suspicious character. Bringing out the red really dramatized it, though the alterations to the figure beneath the umbrella seemed to me to contrast a bit awkwardly with the background when seen in full-view.

Anyway, beautiful piece!

Thanks for the critique. I'll take a look at the figure in light of your comment.
