Another last night stamping breathless
toward a sick, elusive sun, behind an
ugly run of less familiar pines

this is part of that trail in SoCal where the woman was attacked by a mountain lion, and where they found the biker who had been killed by it. we were hiking there the week before, trying to convince the guy with us that there was really nothing to worry about.

I thought the same thing walking through that place, it was pretty amazing. No talking trees though, or I would have fallen asleep from boredom and never got out of the place..
